The Grizzly

Kevin Joynes-Creed
Qualifications
UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness, Running & Movement School Running Techniques Coach, Running & Movement School Functional Biomechanics of Running Coach, Level 3 Personal Trainer.
Running since:
I began my running journey in 2013 at which point I was almost 20 stone and boarderline diabetic.
Running Speciality:
I wouldn’t say I have any particular speciality however I would always describe a Half Marathon as my ‘Happy Place’.
Favourite Race:
2014 Royal Parks Half Marathon. I’m not quite sure what happened that day but I woke up feeling hyperactive. I spent just over two hours having the time of my life whipping up the supporters, high fiving everyone in sight and generally having far more fun than I should have been able to have while running a half. If only I could find a way of recreating the energy I had that day every time I run a half…
Proudest Running Achievement:
To date my proudest achievment was my first Ultra Marathon in 2019, not only because I completed it but I ran every step of the way alongside one of my own running heroes and someone who was a true inspiration to me.
Nadine Brown
Qualifications:
UK Athletics Leader in Running Fitness
Mental Wellbeing in Sport and Physical Activity
Running Since:
I joined RSE in April of 2016 and completed my first race, The Highworth 5, later the same month.
Speciality:
I prefer miles over speed! I do love the Marathon distance…
Favourite Race:
I have two:
- The Lulworth Cove Ultra in 2018 – my first Ultra. 33 miles along the coast at Durdle Door. Hot & hilly but the most beautiful views.
- London Marathon in 2019 – see below for why…
Proudest Running Achievment:
Qualifying for the 2019 Virgin London Marathon as a good for age time in Brighton 2018. Then running London in RSE club colours cheered on by fellow members. The crowds, the capital, the weather – everything was so special and memorable.
Elaine Chapman
Qualifications:
UK Athletics Leader in Running Fitness
Running Since:
I’ve been running on and off since 2004 but more regularly since joining RSE in 2013.
Speciality:
I definitely prefer the shorter distances, I love a 5 miler.
Favourite Race:
There are so many. Hope 24 as I have been there every year since it began and I love it there, I also have a soft spot for the Highworth 5 Mile.
Proudest Running Achievment:
Completing the Bristol to Bath Marathon and getting a massive PB just two weeks after losing my father. It took real grit and determination to get round along with some excellent support from, former club coach, Matt Lambourne.

Ollie Hazel
Qualifications:
UK Athletics Leader in Running Fitness, Level 2 Fitness Instructor including Circuit Training, Spin, Kettlebells, Suspension Training, Core Strength, Exercise for Fat Loss and Behaviour Change Coaching.
Running Since:
I have been running on and off for my whole life. I started taking it more seriously when I joined RSE in 2016.
Speciality:
Being able to keep putting one foot in front of the other when my whole body hurts and is telling me to stop. Running through mud when it’s pouring with rain, arriving at least 2 hours early for every race, wearing a hat backwards & sunglasses (whatever the weather) and not being able to tell left from right when giving route directions.
Favourite Race:
Any race you can park within 100m of the startline, has no queue for the toilets and you stand a good chance of getting muddy. All of which describe both the Chedworth Roman Trail and Narbeth Nobler in Pembrokeshire.
Proudest Running Achievement:
Everytime I make myself run when all I feel like doing is sitting on the sofa. Finding a bargain running shirt in TK Maxx with ‘Tough Viking’ in large letters across the back.
Gareth Roberts

UK Athletics Leader in Running Fitness
Running Since:
As a teenager in the late 80’s I missed a bus and haven’t stopped running since.

Brecon Beacons to Cardiff Ultra Marathon in 2019 – all four seasons in one race!!
