Running Somewhere Else is proud to announce our latest ‘Beginners Running Course’ starting on January 10th 2022.
Led by our team of UK Athletics qualified Coaches & Run Leaders this 8 week program is designed to introduce newcomers to running in a fun, friendly and structured manner.
The course will provide twice weekly coaching sessions which will build your running fitness, develop & improve your running technique, and help you to avoid injuries before ‘Graduating’ with a celebration of your success at Cirencester Park Run on Saturday 5th March.
We aim to provide an inclusive environment for runners of all abilities so it doesn’t matter if you’ve run in the past and want to get back into it or are looking at lacing up and running for the first time.
According to The NHS exercise has long been believed to help reduce your risk of major illnesses such as coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and cancer along with lowering your risk of early death by up to 30%.
Exercise is the miracle cure we’ve always had, but for too long we’ve neglected to take our recommended dose and as such our health is now suffering as a consequence.
Of course, at RSE, our number one choice of exercise is Running…
Running is free, it requires minimal equipment, you can do it anywhere, and it burns more calories than many other types of mainstream exercise. In addition to these benefits regular running can boost your mood and help keep your weight under control.
Running is also proven to be a great release from the stress of daily life and can help maintain your all important mental health alongside improving your physical health.
Our last Beginners Course in 2018 brought through a number of runners from total beginners to returning runners. Here’s what just one of them has to say about the program:
I started with the beginner’s course with the aim of getting fitter, had never done any running before and no idea if I would like it or not.
I got so much from the course, it gave me confidence, new friends, and a great new hobby.
I found the club to be friendly, supportive, and inclusive.
Finishing my first 10k a couple of months after completing the course was a real achievement and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the encouragement of the coaches.
Since then I have taken part in many races from 5k to completing my first marathon in October 2021 which was something that I never imagined doing!
