Running Somewhere Else hold charity quiz for Churn and celebrate 10x10k challenge achievers
RUNNING SOMEWHERE ELSE HAD A FUN FILLED EVENING ON APRIL 19TH AT THEIR CHARITY QUIZ NIGHT RAISING FUNDS FOR LOCAL CHAIRTY ‘THE CHURN PROJECT’ AND CELEBRATING THEIR MEMBERS ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE 10 X 10K CHALLENGE HELD THROUGHOUT 2017.
The event, held at the Somewhere Else bar, was attended by over 50 people including club members, friends and family and featured 7 rounds of questions including categories ‘Ding-dong’, ‘Cats’ and of course a ‘Running’ specific final round!
Seven teams battled to win the prizes on offer and thanks to a storming final round ‘Team Duathlons’ surprised everyone, including themselves, to finish in 1st place.
2017 saw Running Somewhere Else turn 10 years old and to celebrate this milestone the RSE committee challenged their members to run ten 10k’s throughout the year (January – December).
During the evening Club Coach Dave Whitlow made the presentations to the 24 members who had successfully completed this 10x10k Challenge, 3 of whom, amazingly, had already completed the challenge in June! They received a commemorative running t-shirt which features the clubs 10th anniversary logo and a list of the various 10k’s that were completed around the world!
The club used the event, primarily, to raise funds for their charity of the year, The Churn Project. The quiz raised over £100 for the charity. The next event RSE will be using to raise funds will be Fairford 10k on June 3rd. Places are still available for those wishing to join the 10k race which is also part of the Gloucester AAA road race series for 2018; head to the clubs website for more details.
Club Chair Caroline Coates said: “We all had a fantastic time at the charity quiz evening. It was wonderful to recognise the achievements of our members and enjoy a really good quiz with friends whilst raising money for The Churn”
“I’d like to thank all those involved in organising the event and to Somewhere Else for hosting us.”
