On Sunday 21st July the eighth edition of the Frome Half Marathon took place. This saw the same famous course offering runners a big city race experience in the beautiful town of Frome and surrounding villages.
A single 13.1 mileloop took runners from Frome Town Football Club through residential areas before they headed up through the town centre. Countryside lanes offered tranquil scenes as they continued out to the idyllic Nunney village, before heading back into Frome Town Centre and through to the football club finish line.

This wasn’t that difficult to figure out this week.

And then we have Rochelle Ravenscroft completing a staggering 80.778 miles in 24 hours. An event like this is a real test of not just physical fitness but mental strength all of which Rochelle clearly has plenty of. A fantastic achievement Rochelle well done.
The Gloucester 10k took place on Sunday 7th July. The route which started at Gloucester Park gave competitors the chance for some running tourism passing Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester Docks and Gloucester Quays. The course was predominantly flat and therefore gave the potential for a PB.

Newcastle Park Run
Linda Edwards – 25:49 which was a PB and first in her age group
The Cotswold Way Relay which was in its 27th year, operated as 10 back-to-back races, starting each stage with a mass start with an hour between the start of each stage..
Stage 1 started at 7 am on a very hot Saturday 29th June from Chipping Campden with stage 10 concluding at Bath Abbey in the early evening. The race used the waymarked route of the Cotswold Way with over 90% off-road, taking in many hills, woodlands, fields and tracks, all offering spectacular views of the countryside around (if ever a runner looked up from the path to take it in!). Each stage consisted of various distances and ascents which offered a differing flavour for each runner in the team.
This year RSE entered ladies, veterans and mixed teams.
At the time of this the individual stage results have not been published.
The Mixed team consisting of Ollie Hazel, Nick Duncan, Nadine Brown, Henry Church, Ellie Taylor, Ben Chapman, Istvan Vegh, Sarah Reynolds, Martin Sherriff and Rosie Oates completed the race in 18:48:16.
The Veterans team consisting of Cathy Steer, Gareth Roberts, Dave Daniels, Kirsty Pitts, John Buck, Dave Whitlow, Richard Marshall, Rochelle Ravenscroft, Paul Coates and Sharon Smith completed the race in 19:46:19
The Ladies team consisting of Elaine Chapman, Linzi Gregory, Tracey Pitts, Linda Edwards, Felicity Crotty, Vanessa Poole, Anne Gardiner, Becca Wilson, Sarah Page and Jo Beames completed the race in 21:42:34
