Laura’s last report from the desert:
Hello! I did it!!!
Felt crap from half way and told Sue and Claire to go on without me, had a rest at 3rd checkpoint then marched to the end. Amazing feeling crossing the finish line! Now I just feel knackered and my feet and shoulders are very sore. Last night in the bivouac tonight – we’ve got the Paris opera performing in a moment – then 7.7k charity stage tomorrow, which is non-competitive – then looong bus ride to hotel in Ouarzazate and food and beer. Can’t wait!
Want to be clean again, and sleep in a proper bed. The race was brilliant, but I’m glad it’s over, and so happy to have reached the end and got my medal.
Lots of thoughts in my head today – Andy telling Rach to bring home a medal, Sally finishing the rome Marathon, old Eurovision songs (a dark moment), and food fantasies!
Love to everyone and see you soon, Laura xxx
