Race Report – 13/10/24 – a weekend of Personal Bests💥

Gloucestershire Cross Country Series

  • Nia Glover 27:30
  • Ellie Witnall 34:54

“This was the first race in the Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country League for the winter. It was held at Yate Outdoor Sports Centre and for women was 3 loops (two large one medium) around the fields including a muddy bank to climb up each time totalling just under 4 miles. It was a generally flat course but felt like tough work on the grass! Nevertheless I had good fun and very pleased the sun came out for us.” Nia

“A good choice if you like getting muddy! It was surprisingly warm and the race wasn’t too hilly, although there was a short steep hill which was pretty tough – thankfully Dave was there screaming ‘Attack it! Attack!’ to spur me on ” Ellie😉

London Royal Parks Half Marathon

This stunning central London Half Marathon, takes in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s eight Royal Parks.  There are over 16,000 runners.

  • Anna Field 1:49:19 New PB!!

“I loved running the Royal Parks half as a change from trail running.  Such an atmosphere with music, dancing and the whole route lined with people cheering you on. Main goals to complete without injury and not have to use the event loos! Nailed that! Pleased to get a PB too!  Would recommend joining the ballot to try for a place,  I got lucky to get a place this year.”

Oxford Half Marathon

More than 13,000 runners have taken part in this year’s Oxford half marathon, raising around a million pounds for charity.

Thousands of spectators lined the route of the annual race, which began in the city centre, passing the sites of Old Marston village, the River Cherwell, Oxford University’s Lady Margaret Hall, before finishing on Parks Road.

  • Rebecca Southerington 1:43
  • Elliot Gardiner 2:02:19

I initially booked this race for my half marathon PB attempt this year. However, the Achilles tendinitis that’s been dragging on since August, meant I had to turn it into a training run after 5 weeks off 😒 The Achilles didn’t feel as bad as expected thankfully and I managed to knock a couple of minutes off my time since my last race at the GNR last month, so I’ll take that as a positive! The course was very flat and it was good to be able to take in the historic sights of Oxford city centre, as it wasn’t a head down PB attempt. Will definitely be back to do this one again when fit.” Elliot

Bournemouth Half Marathon

Part of the Bournemouth Marathon Festival, the half marathon course follows the full marathon coastal route, which sets off from Kings Park before making its way down to the seafront, taking in Boscombe and Bournemouth pier along the way. It offers the ideal combination of flat roads and sweeping views.

  • Leah Brown 1:50:38 New PB!!

“Great conditions, once you were warmed up! Nice to see so many RSE runners. Extra motivation from the pacer too”. Jon Last

“Although not a PB it was the first time I have run that fast since 2017!! A chilly flat run in the countryside, lovely to run with RSE and very good pacers especially Robbo running the 55 min. Thanks to Phil H for helping me run in the final 200 metres too.” Felicity

“A great day of racing with fellow RSE members. So happy to achieve another PB today with a consistent pacing plan, certainly helped by the pacer. If only I could have found a few more seconds! Will have to have another go next year.” Al Powderhill
