Berlin Marathon
Now in it’s 46th year the 2019 BMW Berlin Marathon was held on Sunday, 29th September. Fast, flat and synonmous with world records, with another one this year only missed by 2 seconds, the BMW Berlin Marathon is one of the six major marathons in the world and has been held annually since 1974. The course begins and ends near the city’s Brandenburg Gate and is part of a giant loop. For those runners that actually look at the scenery this marathon was an excellent way to see the city, including Reichstag, BerlinerDom, Brandenburg and Potsdamer Platz.
Representing RSE was Dave Whitlow who completed the race in 3:28:28. He was followed by,
Nadine Brown – 3:41:50 which was a PB
Linda Edwards – 4:09:48 which was a PB
Emma Hine – 4:12:02 which was a PB by a fantastic 34 minutes
Fantastic effort from you all well done.
Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon
The Forest of Dean half marathon took place on Sunday 29th September. The course started and finished at Speech House and was run entirely on forest trails with no road crossings at all. The multi-terrain route generally used well-maintained tracks including a number of new trails and was slightly hillier than the previous course.
Representing RSE was Kate Potter who completed the race in 2:38:44 and came in first place in the female V70 category. Outstanding effort Kate.
Badminton HTE 5K
This unique event, now in its 36th year, is held in Badminton Park in Gloucestershire, and the all terrain course took the runners over some of the world-famous Horse Trials obstacles, in sight of deer herds and through fields and woods.
Competing in their very first Canicross 5k and representing RSE was Rosie Oates and her pup Barley. The route itself was very muddy and included a lake crossing but that didn’t stop Rosie and Barley from winning the race in 22:36. Hope you didn’t have to carry Barley all round. Well done to you both.
